Senior Citizens, Students, and Veterans
One of the best things about Lynnwood is what a senior-friendly city we are. Lynnwood is very walkable, has many transportation and shopping options and the city is home to many senior living facilities. I want to maintain and expand our sidewalk network and improve crosswalks where needed to keep Lynnwood walking-friendly. We should also keep looking to improve and expand upon our current Lynnwood Senior Center. I will also seek ways to support our most vulnerable public school students in the Edmonds School District. As a former high school teacher I know the difficulties facing low-income and homeless students. The city has looked at pilot programs for housing homeless students in the past and I would like to reconsider that project or find other ways we can reduce the burden on those students’ families. Lastly, I’m proud of the growing reputation that Lynnwood has for being a city that welcomes and honors our veterans. I would seek to continue these policies because supporting the troops means supporting them at home as well as in combat. May they always find Lynnwood to truly be a welcoming home.
