Preparing for the Future & Preserving the Past
Lynnwood cooperates with the other cities in our region but we’re also in competition with them for the revenue that shoppers and tourism bring. We’re currently in a strong position with the renewal of Alderwood Mall, the growth of City Center, and the arrival of light rail. We need to see to the successful completion of these projects and continue to find ways for Lynnwood to be ahead of the curve. We need to be ready as a city to meet the growing number of electric cars with appropriate charging station infrastructure.
I support green vehicles for our city fleet when appropriate. I also support continuing to build mixed-use housing/ retail/ dining projects in the Mall and City Center areas. I also wish to preserve the Lynnwood that I’ve known for 50 years and preserve the things that make Lynnwood unique and special. There will always be a place for single-family homes and neighborhoods in Lynnwood and I am committed to keeping our beautiful historic green spaces. All those trees help keep Lynnwood cooler in summer and should always be a part of our city. I want projects to avoid reducing our canopy when possible but when unavoidable the city should find a way to plant new trees for every one that is removed.
